About Me

My approach to wedding photography comes from years of covering international news, politics and business. My work has taken me from the frozen waters of the Maine coastline to the warm waters off of the Iraqi Coast (http://www.sefimages.com). My forte is waiting for the right moment, then capturing genuine moments during the natural flow of the day. My images capture the emotion of your day in an honest manner, and a depict fleeting moments which are often lost when a couple is caught up in the energy of their day.

My photography is not standard or formula driven. My photography is not defined by a term or a definition. Many photographers throw around terms like "traditional" or "photojournalism." While I have made my career as a photojournalist, I am not bound by the rules of photojournalism while shooting a wedding. As much as I wait for the right moment during wedding preparation and the ceremony, I also like to create wonderful quick portraits of the bride and groom. I do not use traditional formal photos, but I play with the moment, the light and the Bride & Groom's personalities to create fun images, before returning to the subtle manner in which I go about documenting the unscripted moments of your day.

Weddings are the beginning of a couples' personal history, a history which will be passed down to the next generation. My style of documenting personal history may not be the right approach for some couples, but for those who chose a different path there are wonderful images to be created and treasured.

My dedication to creating in depth and compassionate images have landed some of my wedding images in Life Magazine's Year in Pictures, Time Magazine's Year in Pictures, Life Magazine's Annual Photo Album, Newsweek, as well as a number of other international news outlets.

Aside from my documentation of weddings, some of my editorial and corporate clients include: Life, Time, Newsweek, People Magazine, The New York Times Travel Section, The Times of London, The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine, Barnes & Noble, Sunoco Oil, Virgin, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines, The Discovery Channel, Home & Garden Television, Monster.com and Eastman Kodak.

Some of the professional organizations and groups I belong to are the National Press Photographers Association, the British Professional Photographers Associates, the Wedding Photojournalists Association, the U.S. Senate Press Photographers Gallery and Sports Shooter.

In my free time I enjoy teaching my daughter the finer points of photography and Apple computers, waiting for the right time to start teaching my son photography, playing with my two Weimaraners, shooting photos in The Underground and taking short trips to Maine with my family.
